Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake HotelChocolate Lake is located in the community of Armdale, Nova Scotia, in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The lake is surrounded by many private homes as well as a Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel and a city beach, which is popular with local families in the summer.

This body of water is an artificial lake into which no aquatic species have been introduced. However, swimmers have noticed minnows swimming along the edge of Chocolate Lake Beach. The name is from the chocolate factory, one of many light industries that used to be on this little lake’s shores. The lake formed after the locals quarried the rock in the 18th century.

Chocolate Lake is referenced in the Jenn Grant song titled “Dreamer.”

The original hotel, Keddy’s Motor Inn, opened in the 1960’s by owner Don Keddy and was sold to Aquilini Investment Group in 2005 — opened in 2007. The hotel was heavily damaged during Hurricane Juan in September 2003, after which the entire hotel was renovated from the ground up and reopened as Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel in 2007.

The hotel includes 142 guest rooms, 9 suites, a newly renovated restaurant & bar, and a 200-person ballroom overlooking Chocolate Lake, and an indoor pool, fitness centre, and games room.
